By the end of the session you’ll be able to:
· Define what your needs are – as a project, individual or organisation

Some roles need long term enthusiasm. How do we make sure we ask the right questions in our recruitment process to find volunteers willing to share their time with us, long term?
By the end of the session you’ll be able to:
· Define the process of recruitment, and what information you will need to exchange
· Plan how you will communicate with potential volunteers to find out what you need to know.
Involving the Busy People
“If you want something done…” We all know the busy people are the most effective. How do we make sure we are ready to involve them?
By the end of the session you’ll be able to:
· Identify the barriers in your organisation to getting experienced, keen volunteers involved for small amounts of time.
· Break down tasks into tiny chunks and communicate tasks to others using a range of media
Volunteers and Employment Law
Exploring the common ways that organisations’ relationship with volunteers can become legally confused. It will present simple solutions for a happy, clear relationship between volunteer and organisation that avoids employment law.
By the end of the session you’ll be able to:
· Outline the key laws that affect your management of volunteers
· Explain the differences between an employment contract and a volunteer agreement, and the role of the whole organisation in this clarity
Who Can Volunteer? Age, Immigration and Welfare Conundrums
Clarifying legislation and guidance that affects individuals’ volunteering, and the impact this has on your organisation
By the end of the session you’ll be able to:
· Outline guidelines that affect and enable the volunteering of: Non-UK residents, Older/younger people and People claiming welfare benefits
· Describe the benefits of a broad volunteering programme which includes a range of ages, cultures and capacities
Creating Inspiring One-Off Volunteer Opportunities
Involving large groups of people in low responsibility, low commitment roles. We’ll include taster sessions and employee volunteering
By the end of the session you’ll be able to:
· Explain the benefits to both organisations and volunteers of ‘micro’ roles
· Involving and delegating appropriate support tasks to other more experienced volunteers
Demonstrating the Impact of your Volunteers and your Organisation
The benefits to volunteering are everywhere – for the volunteers themselves, but also their colleagues, your organisation and the wider community. Showing our impact will increase volunteers, our effectiveness and of course help with funding.
By the end of the session you’ll be able to:
· Identify the information we need to collect, and what we are already collecting
· Use simple monitoring to share the impact of volunteers’ efforts – internally and outside your organisation
